Below are frequently asked questions about Enterprise Profile Management and HubOne.

Business Questions

1. How is Enterprise Profile Management Licensed?

   There are three editions of Enterprise Profile Management. Workgroup edition is free up to 100 users in a single location. Business edition is licensed up to 1,000 users and five locations for a fixed cost. Enterprise edition costs $1 per user per month and includes all features and upgrades.
   Customers can use the included license tool to request a license for Enterprise Profile Management. We’ll then send an invoice, which when paid will include an activation key for the software.

2. How do you get HR departments and line managers to encourage and enforce individuals within a company to keep their info up to date?
   
   The major premise of the software, once implemented, is to encourage users to keep their information up to date, so they can be found for interesting new positions or projects. In addition, the software enables end-users to easily maintain an up-to-date resume or CV. In implementation with our current customers, when they have explained to users the benefits of an up-to-date profile; or they see their peers receiving interesting opportunities or assignments, people are encouraged to keep their profile up-to-date.

   In addition, the live status feeds from one’s network encourages you to update your profile as your peers update theirs!
   Enterprise Profile Management Reports, coming soon will provide business analytics information on who has an up-to-date profile and who does not.

3. What size customers does this apply to?
   
   When we were designing the software, we believed it to be most applicable to large organisations with multiple geographical locations, however we have had success with organisations as small as five people and as large as 200,000!
   We believe the reason for this is that we never really know all the capabilities and abilities of people in our organisation, and using Enterprise Profile Management, we can get great visibility into that.
4. How does this tool compare to current HR Systems?
   
   HR Systems provide a large amount of functionality and information about human resources. As such they need to be limited to people authorised to see information. The point of Enterprise Profile Management is that it is on every desktop, and that everyone has access to the information. In a way, this information is not really secret and we expose the relevant information needed to make initial hiring suggestions. Enterprise Profile Management has been designed to augment, not replace existing HR Systems!

Technical Questions

1. Does Enterprise Profile Management change Active Directory?

   No. Enterprise Profile Management uses either Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services or Active Directory Application Mode (AD/AM) which means your corporate Active Directory has no schema changes and no objects are added, modified or deleted during use of Enterprise Profile Management.

2. What Ports does Enterprise Profile Management run on?

   The Enterprise Profile Management Server can be configured to run  through a standard LDAP port and a Standard secure LDAP port. To use the secure LDAP port, you need to add a SSL Certificate. You can choose which ports the server uses. For the client application, you can choose either the standard or secure LDAP port. Please ensure the client can verify the Server Certificate if using a secure port.

3. How many Servers do I need?

   This depends on the size of your organisation, WAN links and utilization, the number of users concurrently using the system and your performance requirements. Please contact support@hubone.com for more information. We suggest you start with a single server.
